IRS Economic Stimulus Package

The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) is partnering with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to make sure important information reaches the deaf community. The IRS produced three pilot videos, “Economic Stimulus Payment Basics”, in American Sign Language (ASL) along with an English transcript of the content.

Watch the 3 pilot videos

General: All you need to do is file a tax return to receive your economic stimulus.

Are you wondering what you need to do to get your Economic Stimulus Payment (ESP)?

Actually you don’t need to do anything except file a tax return.

As long as you have a valid Social Security number and at least three-thousand dollars of qualifying income, you’re eligible.

So, just file your taxes this year. And the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will figure out the rest.

Be sure to choose direct deposit. You’ll get your payment quicker that way.

Taxpayers Who Normally Don’t File: As long as you have $3,000 in qualifying income, including Social Security, veterans and Railroad Retirement benefits, you can get an economic stimulus payment.

Has it been years since you’ve had to file a tax return and you’ve heard that is the only way to get the Economic Stimulus Payment (ESP)?

Well, don’t worry.

If you’ve made at least three-thousand dollars, either from income or through Social Security, Veterans Administration or Railroad Retirement Benefits, you could get a payment.

All you need to do is file a 1040-A form, or, go to the official Internal Revenue Service web site, IRS.GOV and file your return electronically, for free.

Rebate Scams: The only way you can get an economic stimulus payment is by filing a tax return, not by giving your personal information to a scammer by phone or e-mail.

Have you received a call or e-mail from someone claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)? And did they ask you for your bank account number and say that’s the only way to get a tax rebate?

Well, hang up the phone and delete that e-mail.

Because that’s a SCAM.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) would never call or e-mail you for personal information.

Never!

The only way you can get the Economic Stimulus Payment is by filing a tax return.

That’s it. That’s the only way.

And you can take that to the bank!
