As the accessible media coordinator for San Francisco State University, I can't emphasize enough the need and importance of continuing the training and growth of caption providers.

Please vote for the Higher Education Reauthorization Act and restore a just and equitable form of access to education.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out in court, since such conversations are considered hearsay. By that definition, interpreters have to be excluded from the courtroom. I'd like to see how the judge reacts when the Deaf person in the courtroom is unable to communicate properly in the courtroom. :-)

IT has happened to me few times already. At first I chatted on IM with this so-called "Deaf Lottery" and asked series of questions such as addresses of Deaf Lottery, their contact information that I can call to verify. They became vague and then says where to wire the money, I gave the info. They said oh, I will need to collect this x amount of money before wiring money over.

I knew right then and there, I say "oh, well, I am broke can you deduct that from my lottery check and send balance to me" They kept on saying cannot do that. I told them it can be done as most state lotteries do.

Then, I said, guess what? I copied all of our conversation and sent to FBI through this website ~> http://www.ic3.gov/.

After that, I got several more similar to this above, I just clicked "report this as spam" then automacially block

That is very good news for deaf citizens everywhere in the United States.

The email correspondences already seen as a standard communication feature to be admitted into the law of court.

At last, deaf people have the real victory on their hands to hand in the admissible evidence within the use of relay services.

Thanks to the NAD's Law and Advocacy Center for their hard work and dedication and committment to the true justice for deaf people. :)

I am truly glad to see NAD participation in the EHDI. Partnership with other professionals whose interest are to promote the success of language development and education of Deaf children is a very important goal.
I truly hope NAD make a strong statement that visual language is a key contributor to success in education. However they should also state that all form of language development should be used. (ASL, Speech, Listening).
Yet visual language "ASL" is critical especially early on. Try to visualize teaching a deaf child the word "Tree". Eventhough I have not seen scientific research but my guess would be the deaf child would grasps the understanding of "Tree" in it's visual form before they understand it with speech. So why should we procastinate the opportunity of a deaf child from understanding things sooner when a mechanism is available visually.

I am not deaf but I am the mother of a 5 year old little girl who is. I need help dealing with the court system who just ordeed her to wear her cochlear implant. I feel as though this should be our personal choice. She does not like it at all and I'm fine with that. We are learning ASL and our doing great with it. Please help me help my daughter.
