Thank You for Taking Action on Closed Captions
By advocacy | March 30, 2007
The NAD asked you to oppose requests for TV programs to be shown without closed captions, in your state. You took action. Wow! Consumers like you filed over 500 comments with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) opposing TV programs without closed captions.
THANK YOU . . . THANK YOU . . . THANK YOU.Â
Â
The NAD, along with other consumer advocacy groups, worked hard to prepare and file comments/oppositions to each and every one of the 494 requests for TV programs to be shown without closed captions. Actually, in addition to responding to those 494 requests from 2006, we also responded to 54 more requests made in 2007. In other words, we responded to 548 requests for TV programs to be shown without closed captions!
We are officially DONE, DONE, DONE.
Special thanks are given to Bingham McCutchen LLP, TDI’s lawyers, who provided legal support for this entire process. Thanks to everyone who gave their time and energy to reviewing and summarizing requests; preparing comments/oppositions; and electronic filing. Thanks to the NAD staff for posting the information on the website for consumers to file comments/oppositions.
Thank you, each and every one of you all across the country, who opposed these requests for TV programs to be shown without closed captions.
The NAD appreciates your support.
