Closed Captioning – Update

By advocacy | January 26, 2007

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) granted NAD’s request for a 120-day extension to file comments and oppositions to hundreds of requests for exemption from the closed captioning rules.  The deadline for filing comments and oppositions is extended to March 27, 2007.  The FCC also granted NAD’s request for permission for consumers and other consumer advocacy groups to file electronically (rather than print, copy, and mail).  In the meantime, the NAD continues to review each of the 494 requests for waiver from the closed captioning rules. We are preparing a list with key information to help us and to help consumers and other consumer advocacy groups prepare and file comments and oppositions.

please keep the closed captioned for deaf and HOH people. The closed captioned is part of education because of spelling language and English language that deaf and HOH might improve their language. Thanks

    Kris~
